ABA vs Counseling

In psychological counseling, the client will meet with the psychologist and talk for 1-2 hours per week.

The client is then supposed to internalize anything discussed in that time each week and implement the changes discussed with the therapist. In ABA Therapy, the Behavior Analyst will have significantly more time with the client, and the therapy occurs in the natural environment (home, school, community), which ensures faster learning and progress than providing services in a counseling setting.

In ABA we spend significantly more time with each client, determining the most effective interventions to implement, and tracking progress by collecting data. Progress is measured and displayed in graphical format, and as the client progresses, ABA will modify interventions to ensure the most efficacious treatment is utilized.
